Lousaval Dark Slate

Lousaval is a collection of quarries by German owned ‘Groupo Cafersa.’ The slates stocked at Yates Slate are from both the LV11 and LV15 quarries.

Dark Slate

LV11 is a dark blue/grey natural roofing slate which is produced from the ‘La Fraguina’ mine, which is located close to Lousa. The 5mm slate is flat and smooth and in first grade is more or less pyrite free which achieves a very neat and even roof-line.

LV15 is a dark blue/grey natural roofing slate which is produced from the ‘Valdemiguel’ open-pit quarry. The 7mm dark slate has a riven texture and is more or less pyrite free, the appearance highlights the much loved properties of a natural slate.

The Lousaval dark slate is fully compliant under B.S. EN12326-1:2004 as W1,T1,S1 and carries a quarry guarantee of 50 years.
